Toast the Season 2009Our 2010 Toast the Season wine trail tour takes place over the next two weekends (Nov 6&7 and November 13&14). There are a few tickets remaining, and in addition to wine & food pairings at the wineries of the trail, attendees receive a wine tote gift bag with a 2010 holiday ornament and food & drink from members of Sleeping Bear Gourmet, a local association whose members feature fair-trade and organic products.

Comprised of small family owned and operated businesses, Sleeping Bear Gourmet members all share common values that represent the highest gourmet standard in each respective category as well as common commitment to sustainable business practices. Timothy Fitzgerald Young of Food For Thought says “We’re excited to participate in Toast the Season. It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the rich culinary heritage of this region and aligns perfectly with Sleeping Bear Gourmet’s commitment to a local food economy.”

Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate will provide Dark Chocolate Cherry Pumpkin Seed Puddles, 2 in a bag. 65% dark sustainable grown hand made chocolate with local organic cherries and organic pumpkin seeds.

From Higher Grounds Trading Company, ground Bolivian Pumiri Medium roast coffee (one pot) that is sweet and sassy with fine notes of vanilla and chocolate – typical of a fine Bolivian coffee accented with a delicate creamy finish.

Cherry Salsa Atento from Food for Thought is just that, an attention grabber. Created with love and commitment to fair and just relationships between farmers, our staff and you. Taste the simply fantastic balance of fresh Michigan tomatoes, Montmorency cherries, lots of love and pure intention. Try as a traditional dip or as a grilling accompaniment. A perennial favorite, this Cherry Salsa has been Featured on Food Network and has been voted “Best Salsa” by Vegetarian Times magazine. One bite and you will know why!

Light of Day Organics will give you an ample bag of tea for a delicious pot of Heartwarming Cinnamon, which is naturally free of caffeine and features Fair Trade Rooibos, Apple, Orange, Clove and Cinnamon.

My sister and I are attending Toast the Season. Can’t wait! It’s my second year and her first. It’s going to be a wonderful “Girl’s Weekend” for sure!
