What is a vertical tasting?
A vertical tasting is a unique opportunity to sample and compare different vintages of the same wine type. We will have verticals of the 2002 through 2008 Semi-Dry Riesling and the 2005 through 2007 Cabernet Franc/Merlot every hour on the hour. You won’t want to miss this outstanding presentation of Gill’s Pier wines. $10.00 per person, maximum 8 people per hour. Call the tasting room to make your reservation. The Gill’s Pier Vineyard & Winery 2007 Cabernet Franc/Merlot won Gold Medal and Best of Class at the Michigan Wine & Spirits Competition!

This blend of 49% Cab Franc/51% Merlot is an outstanding example of the 2007 vintage. French barrel- aged for 17 months, this full-bodied Bordeaux blend with supple tannins, underscore hints of blackberry and cocoa is $34.95 per bottle. Limited cases available for purchase in the Tasting Room or by the Bottle at Trattoria Stella in Traverse City.

A limited production of Edlin Ridge Reserve Riesling is now available

Growers Ed and Linda Gregory of Edlin Vineyards have been a main source of grapes for Gill’s Pier throughout the years (in addition to our estate grapes). We created this special Riesling with them to demonstrate the outstanding quality of their vineyard. This reserve Riesling is a luscious semi-dry wine bursting with up-front fruit and lively acidity on the finish. $30 per bottle. For purchase only in the Tasting Room – only 12 cases produced!
