Enjoy Over 100 Wines at the Traverse City Wine & Art Festival!
Michigan By the Bottle has a great feature on the Traverse City Wine & Art Festival that you will enjoy:
As the name suggests, the festival will be particularly appealing to oenophiles, who can enjoy samples or full glasses of some of the best wines Michigan has to offer.
“People absolutely love both the variety of wine and the fact that we have that huge wine tent where there’s tons of space to get close to all of the wineries,” said Andy McFarlane, spokesman for the Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association. “We have 24 of them, and each of them are bringing at least four wines — and many more — so we will have well over 100 wines there. Folks like the fact that we offer full glass pours, and last year we added half-glass tasting pours so people can try more of the wines.”
…For many, it’s all about the festival atmosphere, which festival coordinator Laura Herd said has been amped up even more for 2011, based on past visitor feedback.
“Last winter, we asked people what they liked most about the festival, and they told us one of their favorite things was the ambience and decor,” she said. “We like to make people happy, so we doubled our decoration budget and put more in for performance artists as well. I think people are really in for some delightful surprises on Aug. 20.”
