Leelanau wines power Michigan to wine clash victory!
Something we failed to note a few weeks ago was Michigan’s trouncing of Ohio in the 2009 Ohio vs. Michigan Wine Clash last month in Columbus and Ann Arbor. The Toledo Blade reports:
Organizers chose 11 top wines from each state, put together two panels of wine enthusiasts, and set up tastings in Columbus and Ann Arbor.
The idea was to let the judges taste and evaluate each of the 22 wines ‘blind’ and choose their favorites.
Michigan reigned supreme by having the top-scoring wine of the 22 – Longview Estate Bottled ‘Winter Ice’ 2007 – and four of the top five wines based on the aggregated judges’ scores.
Gills Pier also finished in the top 5 with their 2007 Cabernet Franc / Merlot Meritage. Read more about the wines in Joel Goldberg’s column in the Ann Arbor Chronicle.

Nice blog. I can watch the excitement on the competitor faces about the wine clash. Wish If I could participate in it.
