Report on the 2011 Harvest Stompede
The Leelanau Enterprise has a nice report on the 2011 Harvest Stompede that begins:
The weather was perfect for both events sponsored by the Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association.
“I’ve heard it’s beautiful, and that’s why I’m here,” said Liz Tiffany of Traverse City, who has been running for two years but was experiencing her first Stompede. “It’s supposed to be a super tough course, but I’ve heard it’s gorgeous.”
There were plenty of other first-timers like Tiffany and Sean Flaherty of Traverse City.
“I just hope I can finish, and I don’t want to be last!” Flaherty said.More than 800 runners and walkers, including some Canadians, participated in Saturday’s event. The hilly terrain coupled with the loose dirt rows made for one of the area’s trickiest cross-country running courses.
