Winemaker's Choice: Charlie Edson of Bel Lago Vineyard & Winery
Wine: 2005 Bel Lago Chardonnay
Food: Indian Spiced Carrot Soup with Ginger
Why: The 2005 Chardonnay pairs beautifully with this outstanding recipe! The elegant fruit, subtle French oak tones and tropical notes of our Burgundian style Chardonnay compliment the delicate curry and ginger flavors of this delicious, piquant soup. In particular, the French oak barrels bring up warm caramel and vanilla notes in this focused, and nicely balanced Chardonnay.
Our winemaker, Charlie Edson has been making wine for over 20 years and holds a doctorate in Horticulture from Michigan State University where he studied grape growing, plant physiology and winemaking. He and Assistant Winemaker Chris Parrish focus on fine Alsatian and Burgundy style wines made from Auxerrois, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Cabernet franc and other varietals. We invite you to join us to taste our Bel Lago wines!
